Selective lenticular PDF Print E-mail

Selective lenticular foils are created by transparent ink printing. Lenses are simulated with varnishes. Printed lenses car then be spherical, what allows us to increase number of images to be displayed. This makes possible to print deeper 3D and longer animations. On the top of this, Popims spherical lenses allows to prints effects visible horizontally and vertically.

This type of printing is called selective because the effects created by the lenses are only printed where it is needed. This mean we can combine styles and display on a single sheet, classical high definition printing combined with multiple types of lenticular effects (3D and animations where they are needed).

There are four main types of LensPrinter products: "Duplex", "Simplex", "Dual" and "Recto-Verso".

  • A Duplex is constituted of two different substrates. One is generally opaque and is printed with the coded image, while the other is transparent and receives the transparent layers creating the lenses. The opaque one can be an adhesive to create a label or any other adhesive product.

The lenses may be printed before assembling the two substrates or after. In that last case, the transparent substrate may be laminated on line within the printing operations. The verso side of any type may receive glue and a protective liner when the purpose is creating a label.
  • A Simplex looks similar, but the transparent substrate is replaced by layering/printing a flat layer of transparent material (ink or pvc for example) on the opaque substrate.
  • A Dual is a Duplex where the two sheets are not assembled, but made to be stuck one on the recto and the other one on the verso of a transparent sheet which can be very thick. This solution is especially adapted to glazing products (building fronts, double glazing, partitions, doors, glass tiling, etc.) and to the decoration of thick objects in transparent plastic.

  • A Recto-Verso is made with one transparent sheet only. The coded image is printed on the verso and the lenses on the recto.
The verso may be covered with an opaque ink (generally white) or with an opaque layer.

It may also receive glue and a protective liner when the purpose is creating a label

All four types can receive extra printing layers on top of the lenses as an ultimate customization.
